The famous and almost iconic crème de marrons (sweet chestnut spread) prepared by Clement Faugier in Ardeche!
Clement Faugier were founded in 1882 and a household name in France for their delicious sweet chestnut cream (with just a hint of vanilla), which is so good you will find yourself eating it by the spoon. It really is delicious, and if you enjoy chestnuts in general, and marrons glaces in particular, this is an inexpensive way of enjoying the same flavour!
Can also be used in all manner of desserts such as Mont Blanc and more – a very simple recipe is chestnut spread with whipped cream to make a simple to prepare and quite irresistible dessert! Mix a 250g tin of Clement Faugier sweet chestnut cream, with a 150ml of whipped whipping cream, and then fold the chestnut into the cream. Chill and serve (you can serve it on a meringue to make a sort of Mont Blanc!) – a sprinkling of cocoa can add visual effect!
Chestnuts (50%), sugar, marrons glaces (candied chestnuts), glucose syrup, water, vanilla extract.
Store in a cupboard up to 3 years. Once open store in a fridge and consume within three days - hard not to!
