Fresh Black Winter Truffle
We have just received a new shipment of fresh Black Winter Truffles from France – each batch varies in flavour and we’re particularly pleased with the intensity of the aroma of this batch. One truffle of 25g will serves four people comfortably.
The Black truffle also known as the black diamond of the cusine is harvested from November till March. Located in the heart of Provence (Frances truffle production area), Plantin can garantee the best quality truffles and the freshest product available.
Black truffles have a pervasive, but nonetheless subtle flavour and are best grated over eggs (omelet, scrambled or soft boiled), risotto and pasta dishes.
Grate the truffle (with a peeler) onto a warm dish of your choice – do not heat the peelings fiercely as this will damage the flavour.
If the dish has some oil of sorts (for example butter in scrambled eggs) it tends to help the flavour permeate the dish.
If you just want to experience the taste of truffle – count 7g per head. And if you want you want to make a meal of it allow 15g.
Generally the sooner you enjoy your truffle, the better it will taste.
